The Frogs Reprise

There is someone in my life who has said she could listen to this all night. Unfortunately, I often have to and it's not so great.

This time there was some bird making a whistling come hither noise too. What's up with that? What kind of bird does that?

Of course if this is what I have to endure to have a little summer? I'll take it. Some nights I just wish they had a volume control.

Random Thoughts #27

Do you ever keep running into the same person over and over, yet you cannot remember her name? No? Uh... me either.

I actually wrote a few sentences for my novel the other night. It was good to write a little more for it. I probably should have signed up for NaNoWriMo instead of NaBloPoMo, but I don't really have the time to write that many words a day right now and still, you know, eat, shower, and sleep.

I love listening to K man sing along with songs on my iPod. He sometimes gets the words, but most of the time he just a leeeetle bit off. It makes me smile because he's so serious about his singing too. He and M will fight about what the words are to songs too. Usually they're both wrong.

My new sling is on the way! I ordered a custom one here.

Exactly how many cats do you need to own to warrant the purchase of a 40-pound bag of cat food? I mean, that is a lot of cat food. If my cat still ate hard cat food, it would probably feed her for a year. But then the food would go stale way before then wouldn't it?

It is fun having two kids in the same choir. This is the only year that we'll have that. But aren't they cute?

Questionable parenting

I'm not sure what this says about my parenting, but it's probably not good.

He calls the group Smashing Corn.

A few months ago:

Who sings this song mom?

Smashing Pumpkins.

Oh I like this song.

A few days later:

I want to listen to Smashing Pumpkins.

Oh I was wrong, it's Korn.

Smashing Korn?

No, just Korn.

Just Korn?

No, Korn.

OH! Smashing Korn!

And also? Don't tell her she's too young.

Hot Girls Reprise

I know my (few) readers enjoyed the video last year so I thought we'd try a reprise. The kids still love the song, as you can see...

A little control please...

A few years ago the land behind our house was stripped of trees and a water-retention pond was put in their place. During the spring and summer months it can get quite loud at our house at night.

Sometimes I have to turn the TV way up so I can hear it over the racket. My Mother-in-Law says she just loves the sound and could listen to it all night. I would sometimes just appreciate a little volume control!

So now you know, in case you ever wondered, what a bunch of frogs sound like when they get together.

The best present

This morning I was sitting on the can and heard some conspiratorial whispering followed by my children appearing in the doorway. Since I was indisposed at the time, I asked them to perform an encore so I could record it.

Enjoy!

Craig took us to Best Buy last week and we got a new video camera (a really cool one with a hard-drive and one-touch transferring to DVD) since our old one went kaput a while ago.

And my kids (husband) brought me a dozen roses yesterday too.

I'm a lucky woman. But I'm not telling my age. Let's just say I'm old enough.

Random Thoughts #12

It seems that I posted not one, but TWO Random Thoughts #10s, so there is no #11, and I've skipped right to #12.
-----------------------------------
Video

My daughter sang in church again today. I post the video because it is so cute, and because my parents missed her singing today and I thought they'd like to see it.

Reviews and Recommendations

I bought some of those Space Bags that you vacuum the air out of to make things like clothes or blankets take up less space. They work pretty slick. Shopko had them on sale half-price so they weren't as expensive as they would normally be.

-----------------------------------

I finished reading DaMomma's book last week. It's a collection of some of her early blog posts. It's hilarious, like her blog is now. The posts were just the right length that I kept the book in the car and read it while waiting to pick Miss M up from preschool.

---------------------------------

I also finished reading How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk by Faber and Mazlish. I thought the book had some good ideas, and liked how it was split into smaller sections so that you could read just a bit at a time and still understand the concepts. I've tried to use some of the techniques they suggest, and they do work if you take the time for it. The techniques can be helpful in adult communication as well.

--------------------------------

Last month, I had a coupon so I bought a bag of those new Pringles Select chips. I chose the sun-dried tomato variety. I found them quite tasty, and therefore they are dangerous to have in the house. I have resisted buying another bag so far.

-------------------------------
Party Time

My kids went to a birthday party at McDonald's Playland today. They were both red-faced from running up and down the climbing toy. They've only been to the Playland 2 or 3 times before so they thought it was great. Of course neither one ate their Happy Meal supper and K only picked at his cake and ice cream. I guess that's not a bad thing though. We went home and made something better to eat anyway.

------------------------------

Yesterday, we partied at my brother's house to celebrate his youngest son's birthday. It seems like he was just born, he can't be 3 already. That means my baby boy will be 3 soon as well.

Happy Birthday Oogie.

Our most annoying toy

This is video of our most irritating toy. It has no off-switch. If you merely bump it, it starts its irritating process all over again.

It also sits there for another 30 seconds and then repeats the rooster call.
My kids received this toy from their Grammy. She said she paid 50 cents for it somewhere. 50 cents too much I think.
Sooo, I know you all have irritating toys. Take a video and post it and be sure to come back here and tell me about your link.

The Talent Show video and the sorry aftermath

So here it is...the video of my daughter's dance with her cherub choir for our church's talent show. Miss M is the one in the skirt.

(It is sort of long-ish, so if you have dial up like me you may want to skip it! But it is waaaaay cute. Just sayin'!)

Sooo, today I attempted to wash the t-shirt Miss M performed in. Um, don't put home-made iron-ons in the dryer. I washed the t-shirt in cold and stuck it in the dryer. On the lowest heat setting. Yeah, it still melted on itself and was pretty much ruined.
Miss M loved this t-shirt from the moment she saw it. She slept with it on Sunday night over her pjs.
I owned up to my mistake as soon as I realized it. Okay, about a half hour later since I was trying to stick it in the dryer to get the logo to un-stick itself.
Mom, I am soooo mad at you... I'm really worried about my shirt, mom... Are you sorry you hurt my shirt, mom?
Ouch. I have been dully chastised.
I have already purchased a new t-shirt and the choir teacher will print a new logo for me. I can fix it. But damn, a 4-year-old can make you really feel like crap.

What do YOU do when it's 13 below?

Craig puts up our air bouncer for the kids to jump off some energy. It barely fits in in our living room, but it's worth the space-hog to get the kids some exercise. They've had a ton of fun this weekend, and I've had fun watching them. It's supposed to continue to be cold here for another week or two. The bouncer may stay in the living room for a while...

Another choir video

Miss M sang in church yesterday. First for the kids' Christmas program, then she had to sing in the late service with the cherub choir "AGAIN??"

They sang 2 songs, but I had video issues during the first one.

I love the girls' last refrain to this song though.

(You have to excuse the focus a bit...the lady in front of me...her head was wreaking havoc with my camera!)
