Our family birthday celebration...

Every year, on, or near M's (and K's) birthday, we have gone to the MOA to celebrate. So Daddy took the day off from work today and we made the annual trek to the Mall. On the way, Craig comments that he has seen on the news this morning that MOA is one of the top places that needs to be protected as a terrorist target. Nice. We figured if we're there and they attack, we're dead anyway and won't care anymore. Not such a great deal for our surviving family.

Obviously we were fine, although I did notice a lot of security there.

We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Also a tradition, plus they send us cards for free kids' meals...so it's a plus to get the meals that they don't really eat anyway for free. They both had the restaurant's version of Happy Birthday sung to them and got their free sundaes. M didn't eat any of hers (my first inkling that she was a bit off today) but K really enjoyed his, and picked up the glass to drink the sundae when it was melted. I took M's temp (yes, I brought my thermometer-- or temperature taker as the waitress called it-- and infant drugs because of K) turned out she was at 101. I gave her some of the infant ibuprofen and she was good to go.

Archiver's was nice enough to get my "newsletter" in the mail to me before we left, so I got my 5 free sheets of cardstock. (It's conveniently located close to Bubba Gump's.) The ladies working in there were kind of bitchy so I was glad I hadn't found anything other than my free stuff.

Then we were off to the "Park at MOA" (formerly Camp Snoopy). M went on the "Screaming Yellow Eagle" and the "Paul Bunyan Log Ride" with Dad before announcing she was ready for the "spinny" roller coaster. We stood in line for quite some time, but she didn't seem to mind. She giggled through the whole ride, just like last time. She is our daredevil child. I also had the pleasure of driving bumper cars with her. She thought that was just as fun.

K fell asleep in the stroller while M and I were in line for the roller coaster. I'm not sure how long he slept, but I'm impressed that he could sleep in that racket. He hasn't been feeling the greatest the last couple of days, so maybe that's part of it.

Later, the kids went on the standard carosel ride. M likes to pretend it's wilder than it is. We took K on a train ride and a balloon ride and he screamed when they were over. We (M and I) took him on a bus ride that just goes up and down in a circle and he screamed because he hated it. I'm undecided what to do for him for the upcoming county fair. He'll probably hate most of the rides...

Anywho. M was starting to whine a lot and I felt her head and knew she was feeling crappy again. But she had to do the Paul Bunyan Log Ride one last time. I took her temp when we got to the van...103.4. So we drove to a Wal-Mart in Inver Grove Heights and I got her some Tylenol. She was sleeping about 30 minutes later, and woke up shortly before we got home...refreshed and with only a slight temp.

So I set up their new VSmile game that I decided to buy with their birthday money. M played that for about an hour and loved it. I may have an addict. K played a bit, just pressing buttons, and he was cool with that.

Tomorrow, their Dad and Uncle are going to check out a new (used) boat for us. We sold our other boat last night, and this other boat is in Cloquet.

Hopefully M is feeling better on her birthday and I'll take the kids to the Hanger for supper...or maybe Leo's Pizza...

Well as usual the photos won't load so I'll have to edit this post another time...
7/22/06 Still can't get any of the photos to load in this post. You'll just have to take my word for it, they were cute photos...

It sounds like you had a lot of fun! Annika really hates the Park and fearfully reminds me that she doesn't want to ride the "school bus" every time we visit. I guess it was a real stomach turner, according to Kurt.
The boys haven't tried any rides yet, but I will predict that Owen will be just like Miranda (he's truly fearless).

Heather, I am not sure how you are loading your pictures but I would reccomend Picasa. Blogger and Picasa are both owned by Google and they work together seamlessly. Picasa has a "BlogThis!" button you can click on after selecting a picture. It also integrates with the "Hello" program which lets you post just a picture with a caption without doing a titled blog entry. Anyway, if you are interested Picasa is a free download from http://picasa.google.com/. Google also has a new Web Photo Album service which integrates with Picasa as well. I currently host my pictures at Webshots so will have to compare services. Oops laptop battery running low!
