In Which We Pretend We're Country Folk

Our local county fair has a building that houses the "Miracle of Birth Center." This was the second year the center was at the fair and my kids loved it just as much as they did last year. Last year we were able to witness a sow farrowing. This year we saw ducks and chicks hatching, but no large animal births. The kids were obsessed with holding the baby chicks and ducklings.

They all want chickens now. ::slams forehead on desk:: Yeah, that should work well. They'll be interested for 2 days...maaaaaaybe a week...then they'll be all: Pffft. I'm not taking care of a chicken.

I do admit the ducklings and chicks were cute...but they don't stay little!
