Things that make my head want to explode

Common occurrences around our house that make me think my head might explode at any minute:
  1. M has worn a hole in at least one of the knees in almost every pair of jeans that I've bought for her. If anyone knows of a brand of jeans that is extra tough in the knees, please let me know because this drives me insane.

  2. Approximately 30 seconds after we're done eating supper, even though she's eaten like a horse, M will ask what is for dessert. (Or what's for snack if it's after lunch.

  3. K will say he's full and doesn't want supper OR dessert, then approximately half an hour later cry, because he wants dessert.

  4. If I buy a bunch of bananas at a time, my kids will refuse to eat bananas until they're rotten and I've thrown them away. THEN they will ask for bananas to eat.

  5. Similarly, if I just buy four bananas the kids will eat all four bananas within hours of me buying them.

  6. The one thing at the store that I think of buying "just in case" we're getting low will be the thing that we have 4 bottles of stockpiled. (i.e. dish soap or butter)

  7. Conversely, the thing that I'm certain we have plenty of will be the thing that we're OUT of.

  8. If I take the kids to a play place or for a walk to "get their energy out" they will be even more hyper than before I took them.
  9. If I need to get sleep because I need to be somewhere earlier in the morning I will most definitely have trouble sleeping.
  10. Finally, if I start writing a blog post that I really like, blogger will eat my post when I hit publish (even though it supposedly saves drafts now).

So, what makes your head want to explode?

Hubs call #6 my "light bulb habit." When we first started living together, he noticed that I bought light bulbs nearly every time I shopped. Then I left that and moved on to deodorant. Then it was lunch meat. Now it's kids' underwear.

I just get in a rut of thinking we're out of something, and it takes me a while to get unstuck.

Gosh, those are all good ones. Stupid driving tricks that people do in traffic really make me explode, though.

Patches! Pick up some groovy patches for her knees!

I had the same banana issues until I started making banana oat muffins. When the bananas are starting to over ripen, I stick them in the freezer so I have them when I bake!

My killer pet peeve lately is taking upwards to an hour to eat a meal ... drives me bonkers!

I agree with the patches, or just wait it out. It is almost spring (don't laugh) and chances are she may not as hard on them next year.

Kaden went through that too, then it was grass stains for quite a while. Now he only wears "sporty pants" at the moment...UGH! it never ends :)

Did you know that Sears has a lifetime warranty on kid's clothes and shoes? Seriously... no matter how old or worn they are, you can do a direct exchange for the same pants (have to be the same size) with no questions asked. Check it out here.

Pretty much anything to do with a grocery store makes my head want to explode.

Other than that, it would have to be the constant sound when Twinkle and/or Mr. S are home.

OH man! All of those are awful. Mine are neighbors across the street. My little guys see them, and they just have to cross the street... and I'm trying to make dinner!

We have many of those same issues in our house too! I was going to tell you what Jeff said. I've also heard that because of this, the Sears brand jeans are extremely hard to wear out.

That jeans thing is driving me bonkers right now too. I even bought some iron-on patches. They sucked -- don't bother.

We are life twins, seriously. Oh, and how about fresh socks (because, you know, it's freaking snowing again and you are freezing and you have to grunt and wince to get 'em on) and you step immediately into a puddle. And then it happens to the next pair of socks too.

Get outta my head Heather! Pretty much all of those things make my head explode on a regualr basis!

I get up hours before anyone else, drink a glass of grapefruit juice, feed the dogs, let the dogs out and put away any gunk (dishes, food, laundry) left in the kitchen. THEN I go (even in the winter) on a 4-5 mile run.

What makes my head spin is when I am opening the door, after being awake and without coffee or food for two hours and chores and a jog under my belt -- I open the door and walk in and the three children are STANDING there waiting for me to feed, dress, and tend to them.

Get your own cereal!

I can only pour things after I've had my coffee. . . .

Okay, I realize that someone who writes a blog called The Hip Mom's Guide probably should not be mentioning Sears as a hip & happening place to buy kids' clothes. HOWEVER, they do sell Land's End and they do REPLACE any kids' pants (including jeans) that are ripped. (Same size, of course.) I found this out when my son ripped through three sets of snowpants in one winter... Your on your own for the rest of this stuff--and what is it with bananas? We have exactly the same issue here! Have a great weekend.
