I’ve come to realize that kids are actually pretty useful when they’re not driving you insane.
Take having older children when you are pregnant. The kids can make you feel slightly better when you’re feeling like crying.
K is fond of petting my (ahem) zebras and telling me that he’s patting the baby. Close, but gee, isn’t he a typical male?
M talks excitedly about all the things she’s going to share with her little sister when she arrives. I’ve reminded her time and again that the baby will generally just cry and sleep and go potty when she arrives, but M is not deterred. ”I know Mommy! But she’s going to share my room!” Well, that remains to be seen. I’ll wager that she won’t be so keen on sharing her room in a few months.
But really you realize how great it is to have older kids when you’re pregnant when you’re at home alone.
And you drop something.
And it lands on the floor somewhere in the vicinity of where your feet used to be when you could see them.

I'm sure they'll be even more helpful once the baby arrives!
Kids can be wonderful with both pregnant mommies and new babies. Wonderful for fetching anything below waist level or across the room. ;0)
That's so funny!! I think I remember having my son tie my shoes for me once! And yes, it does nothing but warm your heart to see a big brother/sister with a new baby of their own.
haha I am not pregnant and I use the excuse that if you are closer to the ground you MUST pick it up. Only back fires when I am with hubby since he is way taller than I !
That's great! It's nice that they are so excited.
Oh yes, the stuff on the floor. Glad that they are good for something (I kid). I love the zebra petting - typical male ;)
New roommates that just cry and sleep and go potty. I've been there. Of course, that was Fall semester freshman year, but I can relate.
