Growing Away

She says few words. Bye bye. Dada. Occasionally Mama. That's not to say she doesn't speak, that she isn't understood. She makes indignant chirps when Daddy doesn't acknowledge her fast enough when he arrives home from work. She climbs into my lap and covers my face with slobbery kisses. She points and gestures for her sippy cup of water. She signs more or eat. She hasn't been that blobby newborn for many months but I just really looked at her and I see another person with personality enough to give her siblings a run for their money. She is still young enough to only see the good in people. She is fearless (sigh, another adventurous girl) and joyful, curious and innocent. She finally reached 20 pounds and there is a lot of life in that little body.
And already, she's making her way away from me.

She is adorable! I love your reflections on her, and especially that wistfulness as you realize she's already moving away from you. Very nice post.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
And I really enjoyed your post at Gunfighter's too.
