My Inpiration Has Disappeared

I had forgotten, blissfully forgotten, what it was like to have a sick baby. Not to say that Ms. D hasn’t been sick at all in her 10 months (gulp! 10 months?) but her illnesses have been simple, yet annoying, colds for the most part.

Last weekend she had the flu. Those who have had a sick infant know that when babies throw up they are generally scared and confused. There is a lot of crying (most of it from the baby). When my babies have been sick, I generally resign myself to being barfed on multiple times. There really is nothing else I can do but hold my baby and murmur in her ear that things will be okay as she empties her stomach all over my shirt.

That’s not to say that I necessarily mind being barfed on. I mean, it is better than being shat on I suppose. And I am so happy to know that I can at least be minimally comforting to my child. I always wish there was something more I could do.

Maybe I’m missing something. Is there something I should/could be doing to help my babies when they have the flu?

I've been shat on before- trust me, it's not pretty.

I'm not a mom, and so have no advice for you. I just wanted to send you some hugs. I imagine it's very difficult to watch your baby being so sick and know that there isn't much you can do for her. I hope she's feeling better!! And you, too.

Sounds like you have it covered, lots of snuggles, words of encouragement and love.

Poor baby girl! Hope this passes soon! I think you're doing and looking for everything you need to with one who is sick and this young. It is a scary time for them, but the extra cuddles are good free medicine, I'm sure!

Oh hugs hugs hugs. Sick babies are very stressful for both the baby and the mommy.

a lot of snuggling will help. Double up on the vitamin C as well.

Praying she gets well the soonest.

Sounds like you're doing it perfectly. A sick baby is a pitiful sight to behold. Praying she's well in a jiff!
