Aweigh Week 6 Moving it Monday?

Another week starting and I already have all sorts of excuses lined up! Realistically though I am going to try to exercise today and tomorrow and hopefully Thursday. I will be happy if I manage just today and tomorrow though. I did make it through Saturday and Sunday morning without gaining any weight so that is a good sign!

Let's finish up last week's business! The winner of the soy massage candle from Chicken Scratch is...Amma! Congrats! I will forward your address to them.
Congrats to Sandy who is last week's biggest loser!

She has also earned this:

Congrats Sandy!

Back to this week and moving forward! This week's prize is from Concrete Garden and Cardwear. The first item is a concrete casting from an ornamental cabbage leaf. It can be used as a tree decoration, garden ornament, hanging on your wall...or wherever you'd like a bit of nature. This item is retails for $10.

The second part of the prize this week is a $10 credit to Cardwear which features handmade cards made from beautiful fabric. An example of one of the cute cards in the shop:

So be sure and come back and report your weight loss/gain/no change this Friday for your chance to win!

But back to the actual weight loss (and WORK) part of this challenge...I confess I still have not been able to get myself to the point of counting calories and taking note of what I eat that closely. Perhaps I should be there by now, but I really am not. But if any of you are, it may be helpful to you to write down everything you eat for a few days to see what you actually consume. I'm sure it's eye-opening for most of us. My sister-in-law sent me the link to this site a while ago that will tell you the calorie count in many foods, including some restaurants and fast foods. It's called Calorie King. I just checked it out because I'm slow on keeping up with things like this and it is definitely interesting to see how many calories are in the things I'm consuming. Gulp.

This week I suspect I will be more aware of what I am eating because my oldest daughter will not be able to eat much. At the same time, I tend to eat more the more stressed I am and I'm guessing that this week will be stressful. So, it's a crapshoot for me! Yay!

I'd like to challenge you all to change one more thing this week. (Assuming you don't have other issues at play ...ie illness, kid having surgery, etc) If you're willing to change another thing, I'll bet you'll see results in a week or two. Any ideas of what you might change?

I have heard of that website before I will have to check it out. I didn't gain any weight over the weekend either but I plan this week to watch what I'm eating and watch my portions.

Thanks for the website...I'm amazed at the calories in some things we just take for granted...I ate 3 cookies and it was almost 400 caloires...I would have eaten 6, but I may stop now.

Journaling definitely works! I found that when I don't write down what I eat, I gain. It's that simple.

CalorieKing is a good site, and there are lots of others out there as well, such as DailyPlate that are good ones.

One other thing to remember that is KEY is portion sizes. I try to weigh servings using a food scale, and I'm constantly amazed at how much cereal I consume in the morning, and how very little one serving of ice cream of pizza is. It's eye opening.

My goal this week is to keep journaling and stay on track (i.e. avoid too many sweets).

When my daughter had her surgery and couldn't eat it, I found myself at one point hiding behind her hospital bed cramming a turkey sandwich into my mouth. Embarrassing!!

Good luck tomorrow and take care of yourself too.

Once again, I'm late checking in. At this morning's weigh-in, I had....GAINED 2 pounds.

Ugh.

I need to get moving. I've been so tired, that I didn't do very much exercise at ALL last week.

This week, I *will* take at least 3 half-hour walks. (by Friday. Today is Tuesday, so I better get walkin'!)
