Apparently I'm a big pain in the A$$

There's something a little unsettling when the OB calls to schedule your repeat cesarean and utters the words "we might want to think about this being the only one that day." Then, after a short silence as the person on the other end tells him that's not really possible says, "well, we should definitely keep the schedule light."

I mean, I sort of knew I was going to be a difficult one for them, but I had no idea it would be stated quite like that.

"You have a history of difficult cesareans." Well, to be fair, just K's was the difficult one. M's was "easy" even though it was emergent. I just had a lot of adhesions from the first one. My section took a long time.

It took so long for K's section that this time I had to have a consult with an anesthesiologist too.

I will need a combined spinal and epidural. I'm told that from my point of view, it will be the same as with the other two surgeries, but they'll be able to give me more pain medication if/when the surgery goes beyond the time that the spinal lasts. And from the standpoint of side effects, this combined anesthesia actually has slightly less incidence of the headaches sometimes associated with cesarean births.

I'll take the pain-free delivery without the side of headache please.

So, if the Munchkin doesn't decide to be uncooperative and come earlier, she will make her appearance sometime on May 22nd.

And it sounds like whoever gets the short straw that day will have to do my surgery since I'm all difficult and stuff.

37 days.

I'm wishing you luck waaay in advance because it sounds like you might need just a little.

Well, you know... third time's a charm! I just remember throwing up from the anesthesia and being really cold. But hooray for good drugs!

Cool, maybe you'll be written up in some kind of medical journal. For being so interesting.

seriously, though ... it's exciting to have a DATE!

Ditto on the excitement over the date...I'd wish you luck but you don't need it 'cause you're in great hands...

I got the date right! what do I win?

How do you know you have the date right? She could be like my other kids and not do what she's supposed to...and come earlier...

Oh, boo-hoo for them. They might actually have to work a little.

I hope everything goes perfectly!

A spinal and an epidural?! That's pretty impressive.

Just think of the service you're providing them. Because you know, at their rate of $10,000 a minute this will help one of them put another kid through college.

Ah...that makes me feel so much better Jeff. You're a real pal.
