So my day started pretty well. M gets up at who knows what time as I don't bother to check the clock anymore. She usually comes in our bedroom after hubby has left for work and either grunts at me to help her redress herself if she's wearing a sleeper and she's gone potty, or she just grunts at me to help her climb into our insanely tall bed. Today it was the latter, so I pulled her up and we snuggled and I went back to sleep. So did she, for awhile. Then she got up and did who knows what. What a terrible mommy I am. I have no idea what my daughter does in the morning.
We have had a few discussions and rules made. Such as: No feeding the kitty. She is fat enough and her Dad feeds her (the cat) before he leaves for work anyway. M gets worried that the cat doesn't have enough to eat and tends to give her a bit too much food. Also: stools must stay in the bathroom. They don't belong down in the kitchen so you can reach the crackers in the cabinet. You probably should have ate that "yucky" supper Mommy cooked last night if you're hungry.
She also tends to wait until I'm about to step in the shower in the morning to pop her head in and ask "Can I have a cheese? Just one?" I guess I should be happy that she asks first (which doesn't happen consistently).
K spends the mornings alternately screaming in his crib and playing. Once I get my big butt out of bed and get him, he gets strapped into a chair to observe Mommy's morning ritual. Of course I have snacks for him to eat as he watches the show...Gerber Veggie Puffs or Veggie Wheels...with the occasional bowl of Yogurt Cheerios. The sad thing is, that he actually is now upset when I "unstrap" him out of the chair. Must be a good show.
The rest of the day...
Went to a friend's garage sale this morning. Saw some things in theory that I knew the kids would love to play with, but knew their Mom would hate having to pick up. I ended up buying a few books (a Martha Stewart book about organizing...which I need to do desperately...also the book Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff, and the book The Nanny Diaries, which for some reason sounded familiar so I must have read about it somewhere.) And M got a Care Bears vhs...which she has watched probably 3 times tonight already. (Bad, bad Mommy!) Spent $2.
Then we went to my Mom and Dad's house as we do almost every friday so the kids can play with their cousins and their Boppa (My Mom still works, but my Dad is retired.) There were neighborhood garage sales in that area so after we hit a few on his street and around the block (the kids got a bit tired on that since it's a rather large block) Boppa said I should go by myself to look at some other sales by car. I tried to talk M into coming as she's usually into going to sales but she wasn't interested today. So I went to a few. Then I heard a lady talking about a sale she'd been to where they were selling "name brand" clothes for kids up to 5T for 10 cents a piece. Darned if I didn't about get myself lost looking for that sale. Never did find it. I ended up with a sweatsuit for M, a shirt for K, and 4 Mercer Mayer books. Spent $4.50.
M had a swimming lesson this afternoon. Her last "regular" lesson for the season until fall, but she has a 1 week summer session in June. Anyway. She's in the class with her cousin and 2 other boys. She joined their group late, but she's already sort of surpassing them because of her fearlessness. She spent much of the session today putting her face in the water and jumping off the edge of the pool. She got some serious air on those jumps. The boys were all still doing baby jumps or holding the instructor's hands when they jumped. Not M, she'd jump when Joyce was across the pool. One of the Moms of the other boys had her camera and wanted to get a photo of M jumping...so she goes into the pool area and says "Wait M!" as M is about to jump. M sees the camera and poses appropriately. Then the Mom says "Okay jump!" and M does, turned to the camera with a smile on her face. That has to be a funny photo. Hope she gets me a copy somehow!!
After the lesson we went to HyVee's tent sale to stock up on sodas for our trip "up north" in June. We got 5 -12 packs of Pepsi products (Diet Sierra Mist for me and Mt Dew for hubby) for $10. Also got things like granola bars, Kool-Aid Kool-Pops, Pop Tarts, pickles, toothpaste, sesame sticks, Cheese-its and some other junk that we probably don't need but most of the stuff was $1 or less so I guess it was a deal.
The kids got to play for a bit back at Boppa and Amma's house and we actually left with little screaming this time. They both also went to bed relatively well and hubby and I got to spend a bit of time talking and stuff.
Pretty good day...no trips to the ER!

1 people like me!:
It WAS a good day! You know, I have been banned from visiting garage and tent sales due to the upcoming move. Sad, sad day as all the sales you hit Friday were in my neighborhood.
Glad to see you here - hope we can be "blog neighbors" after I relocate!!! And visit my sister too, she's a lot funnier than I am. :)
